In one of our articles, we mentioned the importance of industry 4.0 most specifically how this revolutionized industry interlinked both the physical and digital sectors in major industries including manufacturing transportation, logistics, etc. Industry 4.0 mostly focused on Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, automated information sharing and, robotics. With a new industrial revolution, change is inevitable and the capability of this technology is endless. Indeed, the very same principles that drive modern, digitized manufacturing are also bringing about the era of Logistics 4.0.

The logistics industry hasn’t traditionally been at the forefront of advanced technology, although as a sector, it has huge potential for benefiting from these applications. And now with the emergence of Industry 4.0, it is slowly shaping the future of Logistics. So how will these changes impact the way things are move - a key part of the Logistic Industry?

 

Industry 4.0, some have taken to referring to this new logistics as Logistics 4.0—but what exactly does this mean?

 

Logistics 4.0 is the extension of cyber-digital systems and machine-to-machine communication that implies networking and integration of logistics processes from manufacturing to the warehouse to consumer. Simply put, digitization and automation in the logistic process provides more transparency in the supply and dispatch and thus improves the overall efficiency of the business operations.

One of the many purposes of AI implementations in the logistics industry is to automate time-consuming actions and save money.

  3. Advanced Analytics- This technology enables more proactive logistics operations. A combination of IoT, data sourcing and advanced analytics allows organizations to capture, store, and manage vast amounts of data; run robust analysis, and then visualize insights embedded in that data.

This 4.0 technology trend will be fundamental for logistics to take off in the next years.
