Ports and Cargo in Manila suffered a decline in pass-throughs, dropping by 85% ever since the pandemic started. Cargo volume plummets from January to December 2020, declining 13.5% to 230.43 million metric tons (MMT) year-on-year. But with the continuous changes in the Covid-19 scene, Official of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Wednesday said the cargo traffic is expected to rebound by 7 percent in 2021. PPA estimated that cargo traffic is expected to grow by about 7 percent this year or to a total of 246.79 million metric tons, with a 1 percent increase expected in 2022 and 3 percent by 2023.
